The market for the internationally mobile professional has increased dramatically in recent years and we expect this trend to continue in the foreseeable future. There are many reasons underlying this including international demand for specific skills, general globalisation, increasing size and mobility within the EU and the development of certain markets, particularly in the Asian Region. This is often augmented by “soft personal rationales” such as the desire to obtain a better quality of life for oneself and one’s family.

Choosing to consider living and working abroad can offer a professional many benefits as well as challenges. In addition to the potential for career progression there are often also good strategic reasons for relocating including gaining experience that might be difficult to obtain by just considering local opportunities and looking forward to where one wants to be in say ten years time.

Consortius was set up as the international arm of Lombard Recruitment in response the demand for the internationally mobile professional. Lombard is a privately owned consultancy established in 1988 to provide specialist staff to the U.K. professional sector.
